The Prophet ﷺ once told his wives: "The first of you to join me will be the one with the longest hand."
So they measured. Aisha said they used to compare their hands to see whose was the longest.
But he never meant arms. Aisha said:
"The longest hand among us was Zainab's, because she used to work with her own hands and give in charity." (Sahih Muslim 2452)
Zainab bint Jahsh earned with her hands and gave it away. Hers was the longest hand, and she was the first of them to join him.
